Parental leave is ana unpaidlegally breakprotected period away from work for mothers and fathers who want to personally care for and raise their child. As an employee, you can request parental leave from Smart. DuringYou parentalcan leave, Smart must grant youtake up to 3 years offof workparental leave per child.child. - Each parent can take parental leave.
- You do not
necessarilyhave toapply forreceive parental allowance at the same time in order to take parental leave. ParentalDuringleaveparentalallowsleave, youtocan reduce yourworkworking hours to0%0whileandremainingreceive no salary. If you are publicly healthinsured.insured, you are generally covered by health insurance without having to pay contributions during parental leave, provided you have no other income subject to social security contributions.- During parental leave, you can generally work up to 32 hours per week on a monthly average.
- You can take up to 3 years of parental leave per child.
Please note that during parental leave, you may not be employed at all, or at most 30 hours per week (part-time during parental leave).

If you work part-time during parental leave, social security contributions are generally payable on yourbudget.employment income.- During parental
leave,leave without a salary, youCANNOTcannot processassignmentsordersandthroughwillyournotemploymentreceiverelationshipawithsalary.Smart.You can only do this ifIf youworkwant to continue processing orders, you need to be employed part-time.time accordingly. - If you
decide towork part-timeandduringreceiveparental leave while receiving parental allowance or parental allowance plus (Elterngeld PlusElterngeldPlus), yourassignmentsincomeshouldmaynotaffectexceedthe amount of parental allowance you receive. The amount of parental allowance depends, among other things, on youremployment/allowanceincomeratio.beforeForandexample,afteriftheyou have a part-time contractbirth ofEURyour1200 net per month and receive EUR 520 Parental Allowance Plus per month, you should not invoice more than approximately EUR 2200 per month through Smart.child. - You
